On 17 June 2026, Colliers held the exclusive Fire Safety and Audit Insights Seminar, with the Housing Managers Registration Board (HMRB) as a supporting organisation. This closed-door activity was open only to members of HMRB, BSOMES and PMSA, designed to review recent fire incidents and equip property practitioners with practical know-how to bolster workplace and building fire safety.

Running from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Colliers’ Wanchai office, Wanchai, the seminar featured a panel of seasoned cross-disciplinary speakers:

2. Mr Thomas Wong –Programme Leader, Hong Kong Vocational Institute
3. Mr Kay Chan –Senior Programme & Project Officer, Hong Kong Vocational Institute
4. Mr Albert Yau – Industry Advisor, Hong Kong Vocational Institute.

Local vocational experts supplemented global academic insights with Hong Kong-specific fire safety regulations, practical audit procedures, recurring fire hazards in commercial and residential buildings, and customised risk prevention and emergency response protocols for local properties.

Attendees analysed the root causes of recent local fire cases, systematic fire audit frameworks, compliance duties for housing management practitioners, and preventive strategies to reduce fire risks in managed premises and workplaces. Interactive discussion sessions allowed participants to share on-site operational challenges, exchange industry best practices and clarify compliance questions directly with the expert panel.

HMRB will continue to support and co-organise specialist seminars, workshops and industry exchange sessions covering property risk control, regulatory updates and building management for members in the coming months.
